Biography

Christopher Fonceca (Chris) has been playing music professionally since the age of 13 while schooling. After picking up the guitar at the age of 7 his mind was focused on taking up music as his career. After a few years of practice he formed a band with a couple of friends which won a lot of college competitions. At about the same time he began to teach guitar to youngsters at his house. He then got into a well known commercial band when he was 15 and played with them professionally for 7 years. He was also music teacher and school band coordinator in the Mercedes Benz International School.

In 1998 Chris and other experienced musicians formed the band “Strange Brew” which released an album and played all over India. Their album was in English and won accolades among all the music fraternity in India and Abroad. “Strange Brew” is now on the verge of releasing a long awaited Hindi Rock Album due to be released in early 2010.

Chris has played for over 2000 shows in the last 20 years of being a professional musician and also is now a sessions guitar player with many line ups. Many of his students too have become accomplished guitar players and are playing for many famous bands in India

He has been playing sessions with indian fusion act 'colonial cousins' and 'gary lawyer'. He had the honor of judging many music competitions and also promoting many charitable causes through his music. He firmly believes that music is a gift from God and all those who have the talent should make the almost use of it and not waste it!!.
